natural tanned English goatskin, bespoke wooden box hand-crafted in Tuscany,

printed paper by the oldest typographers of Florence, gold foil,

brass accessories, Japanese paper, acid-free paper and cardboard produced in Italy.

Details: leather onlay decoration, gold foil and bling tooling,

gold foil and blind lettering. Made-to-measure protective box.

正月の思い出2

両親の桐箪笥には、今は陽の光を見ることのない着物が眠っている。祖父母の着物、若い頃お茶を習っていた母の着物、七五三や成人式の着物、幼少期に毎年お正月に着せてもらった着物。3年前の日本帰国時に、総革作品に和服生地を取り入れる構想を母に話したら、色々出して見せてくれた。大切な祖父母の形見の大島紬の着物や、私も大好きだった沖縄紅型の振袖を分解する勇気はないが、子供の頃お正月に着たウールの着物、シンプルな帯、端切れ等を、スーツケースの余裕と相談しながら選び、フィレンツェに持ち帰った。昨年ようやく制作意欲が湧き、和服の生地を再利用した新作を2点制作した。

正月の思い出1

日本のお母さんたちは働き者だ。そんな女性たちを、私は心から尊敬している。私の母もその1人だ。一方私は仕事が多忙を極めると、家事一切をパートナーに任せてしまう。欧米では家事育児分担が当然の共働き夫婦も多いが、家事全般を器用にこなし理解のある優しいパートナーに只々感謝。日本のお正月と言うと、子供の頃の楽しい思い出が多い。年内に家中が綺麗に掃除され、お供え、花、額が飾られた床の間に元旦の朝日が差し込み、美しい食器と彩り豊かなお節料理が食卓に並ぶ。全て母が仕事をしながら毎年ひとりで準備していた。それがどれだけ大変なことか、当時の母と同じ年代になって一層痛感する。
